The first time I held my second child my hands were shaking. I was frightened and, at the same time, completely unafraid. Both were true.

In that moment I understood something simple and enormous: this was why I was here.

Motherhood taught me a kind of courage that has nothing to do with being strong. It is the courage to keep showing up, tired, and still full of love.
